Louis Dauth's success story in Fort Collins is detailed in this article.

The determination of Ex-Alderman Dauth to remove to Denver is sincerely regretted by all classes in this city, in which he has been a leading citizen and prominent businessman for more than ten years. Immediately upon the opening of the Colorado Central railroad to Cheyenne, in October 1877, Mr. Dauth located here and engaged in the bakery business in a small one-story frame building which stood where Whittington's barber shop now is in the Mosman block. He began business upon a cash capital of $250 which represented his entire worldly wealth in dollars and cents at that time. But he was young and chock full of days work, ambition and that quality known as stick-to-ativeness and of course he succeeded, and has accumulated a snug little fortune. He has always taken a leading part in the affairs of the city and represented the fourth ward in the city council in 1883-5, being elected on the high license ticket, and was one of that body's brightest and most intelligent members. Though exceedingly sorry to lose so good and useful a citizen Fort Collins takes pleasure in commending him to any community in which he may conclude to locate.
