SON OF FORMER LYONS RESIDENT, PASSES AWAY

In a letter form Mrs. Charles O. Swanson of Greeley, Colorado, to Mrs. Willard Robbins, she enclosed an article of the death of a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Dauth. Mrs. Dauth was formerly Floy Yeaton, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lote Yeaton of Lyons, and lied here when a girl. This is the fifth death in her family and she has only one son living out of a family of six. Many girlhood friends here will sympathize with Mrs. Dauth in her sorrow. George Dauth Jr., 27, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Dauth of Greeley, died at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday morning at the Greeley hospital, his death coming suddenly after apparent excellent progress. It was hoped to take him home this week, and he was in high spirits Tuesday night. Young Dauth had been in the hospital for about a month, having undergone an operation for appendicitis. Pneumonia developed a week later, then a blood clot and “milk” leg threatened his life. He improved afterwards and it was believed he would recover, when blood clot on his lung caused his death. Dauth was graduated form Greeley high school in 1924, after an active four years of athletic participation. He was center on the 1922 state basketball championship team of the high school and played all through his high school career. He was all conference guard in football one year. He attended teachers college for two years and was a forward on the team when Teachers won the conference championship. He has lately been in Baab and Dauth grocery and market. Dauth was first lieutenant in the National Guard here, and for nine consecutive years had attended the summer camp, one of the tow or three men who had that record. He was a member of the Greeley Elks Club. Besides his parents, Dauth is survived by one brother, Leslie Dauth. Funeral services will be at 2:00 o’clock on Friday afternoon at Macy’s drawing room. Interment at Linn Grove. Elks’ service will be at Macy’s; burial will be military.
