Husband and Neighbor Mush 17 Miles on Snowshoes to Twin Springs, Colo., Pulling Improvised Vehicle Despite Raging Blizzard. ; Meeker, Colo., Feb. 21 - (A. P.) - Carried here on an improvised toboggan and bobsled from the remote White River country, Mrs. Patricia Harrington lay in the Meeker hospital Tuesday while doctors debated on whether to send her to Glenwood Springs for an operation. ' The 21-year-old woman became ill last Friday at Elk lodge, forty miles east of Meeker on Trappers lake, where her husband, John Harrington, 27, is caretaker. ; Over snow five feet deep, Harrington and Fred Dauth, a neighbor, pulled Mrs. Harrington on a toboggan on which they had improvised a couch of two old orange crates. ; Sank Two Feet At Every Step ; Making a mile an hour, the two men mushed on their snowshoes to Twin Springs where a bobsled pulled by four horses was sent to meet them. ; "It was awful rough going, but we never lost the trail," Harrington related when the party reached Meeker Monday afternoon.
