Denver Streets now and then. 20th Ave was College Lane, 14th Ave – Capitol Hill Ave, Clarkson – Pierpont, Pennsylvania – Parkinson, Emerson – Venice, Park Ave – 23 St, McGaa Street named after trapper (First child born in Denver) Changed in 1866 to Holladay after Ben a transportation King and in 1899 changed to Market because of the spicy type of living there.

[Mother] Things mother told me –Also Eva and Lizzie. Grandma Fitting went to the Princess Alice School in Darmstadt. She found a letter in the attic in later years saying that she had been invited to Kaiser Wilhelm’s home for a few days. They did not tell her as they did not believe in his warlike policies. Also found out that their Father had red hair not black as he had a dye or polish to change it. Found papers saying red hair.

[Aunt Eva] About 1918 Grandpa had a house built on five acres at 2500 So Ash and the family moved there for a year or so as he needed a rest (lung trouble or nerves) He planted numerous Lilacs and the people of Denver called it Lilac Lane. It is still there 1978.

Pages 8-9 is a family history of the Caroline (Lena) Dauth (Fitting) family written by Isabella Fraser. Pages 9-12 are selections about the Fittings from the book "German Pioneers in Colorado 1850-1900’s" by Jacob V Schaetzel. Pages 12-13 are selections about structures built by the Fittings from the book "Mile High Trolleys" by William C Jones. Page 14 are notes from Caroline (Lena) Dauth (Fitting) found in her bible. Page 15 are selections from "Denver In Slices" by Louisa Ward Arps. Pages 15-17 are a transcription of a conversation between Anna Fitting, Eva Fitting, Elizabeth Fitting, and Isabella Fraser. Pages 18-21 is a family history of the Caroline (Lena) Dauth (Fitting) family written by Eva Fitting. These notes were sent to Leslie Dauth by Isabella Fraser in the 1980s. A more refined draft of these notes with slightly different information can be found in the Fort Collins Archive (Fort Collins History Connection).
