Mother had the first millinery store in Denver at 23rd and Welton. She pawned two diamond rings to finance the shop. She made the frames by hand covered with black velvet on top and pink velvet underneath. They were tied with willow plumes. They were made for the rich pioneer women. The Walter Cheesmans and the David Moffetts. She got fifty dollar for each hat she made. Then they built the 2 story building at 1429 Market and she still had her millinery store for a short time. Eva Manz was born in the building at 1439 Market. The folks never talked much about their families. Father had a brother Wilhelm in Chicago and a sister in Germany. Mother had a sister who lived on a ranch up Turkey Creek Canyon, Kate Sanger. Eva was named after her. A brother George Dauth had a butcher Shop in Greeley. He built a lot of Property in Greeley and also a summer home up the Big Thompson. He had a son named Les (wife’s name Ann). Another brother Louis Dauth came to Denver in 1872 and moved to Fort Collins in 1877 to 1888. Where he owned a bakery and mercantile store. In 1888 he moved to 5 Points in Denver. He died at age 92. He had a daughter Mrs. Irene Haviland of Denver. A son Herman in Bolivia. He also…

Pages 1-4 is a family history of the Caroline (Lena) Dauth (Fitting) family written by Elizabeth Fitting. Pages 4-7 is a family history of the George Dauth Family written by Anna Dauth (Jeremiassen). Pages 8-9 is a family history of the Caroline (Lena) Dauth (Fitting) family written by Isabella Fraser. Pages 9-12 are selections about the Fittings from the book "German Pioneers in Colorado 1850-1900’s" by Jacob V Schaetzel. Pages 12-13 are selections about structures built by the Fittings from the book "Mile High Trolleys" by William C Jones. Page 14 are notes from Caroline (Lena) Dauth (Fitting) found in her bible. Page 15 are selections from "Denver In Slices" by Louisa Ward Arps. Pages 15-17 are a transcription of a conversation between Anna Fitting, Eva Fitting, Elizabeth Fitting, and Isabella Fraser. Pages 18-21 is a family history of the Caroline (Lena) Dauth (Fitting) family written by Eva Fitting. These notes were sent to Leslie Dauth by Isabella Fraser in the 1980s.
